If you have unboxed your front load washer to find that the door is locked and you are unable to open it please review the following instructions.
A lock icon appears on the front of the washer s control panel to indicate the lid is locked and also displays the current progress of the cleaning cycle depending on the model of your maytag washer.
The lid lock is a default feature of your maytag front loading and top loading washer to prevent opening the appliance while the cleaning cycle is in progress.
If the washer will not unlock at the end of a wash cycle unplug the washer or disconnect power.
Press the power button and the washer will start a drain routine which takes approximately 8 to 10 minutes during which time the pump will run continuously.
The control will not accept any input during this time.
After plugging the washer in one of the following 3 events will happen.
Run a drain and spin cycle.
Wait approximately 2 minutes for control to reset.
